The short version

Cash Stash is offline-first. Your cash books, transactions, tags, and notes are stored only on your device. We do not collect, sell, share, or have access to your personal or financial data.

1. Who this policy applies to

This Privacy Policy describes how the Cash Stash Android application handles information. It applies to anyone who installs or uses the app.

2. Information we collect

We do not collect any personal information. Cash Stash has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no crash-reporting SDKs, and no developer-operated backend server.

3. Information stored on your device

Everything you enter into Cash Stash stays on your device only. This includes:

  • Your cash books and their names
  • Cash-in and cash-out transactions (amount, date, tag, and remarks)
  • Tags you create
  • App preferences (such as default currency and date format)

This data is removed when you delete the data in-app or uninstall the app. We never receive a copy of it.

4. Optional Google Drive backup (Pro feature)

If you purchase the one-time Pro upgrade, you can back up and restore your data using Google Drive. This feature is optional and only runs when you choose to back up or restore.

  • Backups are stored in your own Google Drive, inside the hidden application data folder (appDataFolder) — not visible in your normal Drive file list
  • Your backup is encrypted on your device using AES-256-GCM before it is uploaded
  • We operate no servers and have no access to your Google account or your backups
  • You can delete your backups from within Cash Stash, or by removing the app’s data from your Google account

5. Google Sign-In

To use Drive backup, you sign in with your Google account. Cash Stash requests only the permission needed to manage its own backup files — nothing else. We do not store your Google account details on any server.

6. Excel export

Cash Stash lets you export your transactions to an Excel file. This action is initiated entirely by you. We have no visibility into where you send it.

7. Purchases (Google Play Billing)

The Pro upgrade is a one-time in-app purchase processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We never see or receive your payment card or billing details.

8. Permissions the app requests

  • Internet — used only for the optional Google Drive backup/restore and for processing the Pro purchase
  • Accounts (GET_ACCOUNTS) — used only to support Google Sign-In for the Drive backup feature on some devices

9. Third-party services

Cash Stash relies on the following Google services only when you use the relevant optional features: Google Play Billing, Google Sign-In, and Google Drive. See Google’s Privacy Policy.

10. Data retention and deletion

On-device data remains until you delete it in the app or uninstall Cash Stash. Drive backups remain until you delete them. Because we hold none of your data ourselves, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on your behalf.

11. Children’s privacy

Cash Stash is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
